Amiens and Lille

Friday July 16 - Amiens

Walk to the cathedral and followed the tourist walk.  Found a mexican restaurant for dinner by the river.

 

Saturday July 17 - Tour of WWI lines and memorials

Picked up little Avis car from station (interesting time trying to find Avis and then the car). Drive to Albert for tunnel tour, then Pozieres, Mouquet Farm, Le Hamel, Villers-Bretonneux.  Pastries and Victoria School.  Dinner by the river.

Sunday July 18 - Off to Lille

Breakfast in the town mall, ceremony for French Resistance.  Train to Lille and pastries in the town square in Lille.  Walk to old town with clever art and pieces made from old cutlery.  Hotel room became a laundry and drying room.

Monday July 19 - Fromelles Dedication

 Bus pickup to Fromelles.  Spot in a field.  Midday start with burial procession.

Tuesday July 20 - To London on Eurostar
