Flying into Ayers Rock

September 27—Great morning flight to Ayers Rock on Qantas with transfer to Sails in the Desert Resort where Kim and I stayed 14 years ago on our honeymoon.  Lunch was a Geckos in the Shopping Village.  Fantastic pizza with char-grilled vegetables and wedgies.  We ordered too much.

After a look around the shops for a new hat for Kim we headed back to the room for a relax.

Dinner was back at Geckos—great place with good food and service.

September 28—Breakfast at the hotel and a visit to the shops again to buy the hat and water bottles for the 5 day Camping Adventure.

At 1.00 exactly the Sahara Tours van pulled up to collect us.  Quick trip from the luxury of Sails to the campground and tents down the street.  Quick lunch and we were off to Kata Jutja (The Olgas).

The Olgas

It was a hot afternoon and a good 7k walk.  The walk was a good opportunity to met a few people in the tour group and see the beauty of Kata Jutja.  The oranges and water back at the truck was appreciated by everyone.

Back in the truck for a quick drive to the Sunset lookout for Uluru (Ayers Rock).  We had a good spot on top of the trailer with Petra and Christian from Switzerland.  They were on their honeymoon.

Dinner was chops and sausages before an early night—Rob (the tour driver) told us we had a 4.30AM start!
