October 3—huge thunderstorm in the morning, rest day in the Rydges Hotel, in house movies and pizza for dinner.

October 4—a 20 minute walk to town—easy after 7 and 8k walks each day.  Bit of shopping, 1 hour Camel Ride to Date Farm and dinner at Bojangles.  Very nice too.  I had Kangaroo and great beer—Kilkenny on tap.

October 5—Hit of tennis and learning to throw a boomerang.  Dinner at Oscars.  Good pasta.

October 6—Shopping again and dinner on the Old Ghan train.  Really nice sitting watching the stars from the open carriage.

October 7—finally bought the didgeridoo and visited the Desert Park.  This was great particularly the Noctural Display and Birds for Prey show.  We saw Bilbies and Quolls in the nocturnal exhibit and a Numbat in one of the other enclosures.  Buzzards, Hobbies and an Eagle swopped in front of us as part of the show.  We had dinner at Bluegrass that night.  Nice looking restaurant but a little over priced for what we got.

October 8—Great day visiting the School of the Air and Flying Doctor Service.  So interesting.  dinner at the Sports Bar again.  Didn’t let us down.  Best value in town given it shares kitchens with the “silver service” restaurant Pucini.

October 9—Back to early starts for our last day—4:00AM to catch a bus for ballooning in the Outback.  So good.  Amazing the feeling of floating across the desert with this gigantic balloon over your head and watching the sunrise.

Flight home was easy and then straight into washing the red dust out of our clothes.
