Wednesday July 4 - Late arrive at Bergamo airport and a taxi rather than a bus to the hotel given it was already 11:15pm
Thursday July 5 - Checked out the station after buffet breakfast in the hotel and quick dash to catch the train to Milan. Jostled to get on the train and ended up in 1st class. Had to pay a bit more but at least had a seat on the train to Venice. Three hour trip and arrived at Venice. Amazing to get out of a train and be right on the canals. Ferry around to St Marks Square and then tricky walk to the Hotel. Walked up to the Pont Rialto and dinner on the way back at a little pizza, pasta place.
Friday July 6 - Breakfast from a little bakery back in the room then a free water taxi to Murano to see glass making. Visited the supermarket where water is so much cheaper than the little street shops. Dinner at a little place near St Marks Square where a concert where Peter Gabriel was performing.
Saturday July 7 - Walked to the other side of Venice and toured the Duomo. Also took a Gondola ride before catching a water taxi to the airport. Quite a wait to get the car then off to Verona to see the Juliet Balcony. Easy - so far. From Verona we were heading to Florence to meet Nic at the airport. Unfortunately none of the rode signs said Florence so we missed the turn. Some back road through Mantova and we found the Autostrada to Modena (?). From Modena to Bologna then Florence airport.
Arrived just in time for Nic landing around 7:00pm. The drive to Panzano, tiny village in the middle of Tuscany, was pretty easy although slow with the narrow twisting road. Found our villa just before dark, unpacked the car, and headed into the village for dinner.
