We're in San Diego and it's hot .. We arrived in San Diego just fine. The flight across the Pacific was very good. Calm and although cramped everyone got along just fine. Nicole and Rebecca didn't even complain about being on top of one another sleeping. Customs was slow but uneventful. No lost bags or children.
We found where we are staying quite easily and haven't got too lost so far. Anyway, after a good early night Friday we went to the Zoo on Saturday.
Very nice zoo too. We took the deluxe package which includes a guided bus
tour of the park. We saw the Polar Bears playing and Elephants up close.
Lots of bears and more varieties of gazelles than you could point a stick
at.
We had lunch at the Sydney Grill, yes, Sydney as in our Sydney. Pictures of Koalas and lots of other sites named after Australian animals. Eucalyptus trees everywhere. They were brought in from Australia years ago because they grow quickly in arid climates. Basically this is a desert by the sea and they needed shade. Pine trees, native to America, grow to slowly so they planted Australian gums which have thrived here. Last night we had a really nice dinner at the Pier Cafe right on the water in the "Downtown" area. Beautiful food and view ... a bit like Doyles. Today, Sunday, we went shopping near the Mexican border at what are called Factory Outlets. Clothes, shoes, glasses, etc are at rock bottom prices in huge open areas. We all bought new shoes and some of us even got some new clothes. We just got back from watching the sunset over the Pacific. Everyone is well and looking forward to Seaworld tomorrow. More news from LA in a couple of days. |
