Munda Biddi Pilgrimage

Here follows the Munda Biddi Pilgrimage - one that for the first time in the pilgrimages of “The Church of the Holy Spoke” brings in a unified procession with another congregation, that of “The Convent of the Purple Circle”.  In simple terms, six old guys who like riding mountain bikes were joined by their partners on a long ride in a new place.

With the official start to the pilgrimage being on Sunday September 4 Richard and Karin headed to Perth a week early to relax and gather information for the brethren arriving on Saturday September 3.

Day 0 - Saturday September 3: Flight from Sydney to Perth then drive to Rockingham

It was an early start for Yarro and Clare, and Paul and Heather on Virgin Blue, with JohnO and Lyndy, JD and Robyn booked to fly out about the same time on Jetstar.  Unfortunately the gods had another view on the Jetstar flight and it was postponed for four hours.  JohnO and Lyndy managed to switch to Qantas joining Kim and Phil on the 8:30am flight.  JD and Robyn couldn’t switch and also were hit with a most unholy excess baggage charge for the bikes.

Richard, Karin, Yarro, Clare, Paul and Heather were at Perth airport to welcome the Qantas four.  After a quick signature on the rental van scripture we headed to Lyndy’s brothers place for a collection of “the Ark of the Covenant” (the esky).  Only a short prayer there before the drive to Rockingham ably guided by all forms of divine instrumentation – TomTom GPS, iPad maps, handheld phones and internal compasses.  Sadly Phils eyes are going and read the address as 5B instead of 58 for the accommodation.  Ah – it was a nice detour for some holy water, and some fishes and loaves and salads.

Fun times now for the Bruddas as they unpacked the bikes and re-assembled.  Over a cold beer it doesn’t get much better.  Yarro headed back to Perth Airport to collect JD and Robyn.  Kim and Lyndy hit the shops to do some “gathering”.
With both congregations in full assembly and in evening dress it was off to Mandurah for dinner at Café Pronto http://www.cafepronto.au.com/
