2008 Mt Stromlo 24 Hour

Great weather again although a bit windy and dusty on the Saturday afternoon.  The Panzer Tiger (Phils Touareg) and Centurion (Peter Gs Range Rover) headed off at 6:15am from Pauls.  In the Panzer was Paul, Yarro and Phil whilst the Englander (Peter G) and Peter H (stepping in at the last minute for double D) travelled in the Centurion.  Richard would join us at Stromlo.

Standard stop at Marulan for coffee and breakfast and at the site by 10:00am.  Great camp spot near the entrance so we didn't have to carry anything.  The Panzer enjoyed the short incursion onto foreign soil.

First out was Peter H on the Blue lap followed by Paul on the red, then Yarro, then Richard, then Peter G and finally Phil.  The night was switched to double laps which meant you could get a good sleep.

Great timing meant Phil got in at sunrise and out went Paul on the Blue followed by Peter H on red then Richard, Yarro and then Phil.  Phil got back with 3 minutes to spare so Peter G could get in his 4th lap.

Living off the land worked well for some with meals on wheels service from Richard and Phil.  Others bought their own supplies.  Peter G sourcing some beer and wine was a nice touch.

All packed and back in the Panzer and Centurion for the run back to Sydney by 1:30.  With a stop at Marulan we were back in the homeland by just after 4:30.

No breakages - gear or body - and lots of laughs.  Most liked the Red run more than the Blue, and interestingly the Blue had more climbing than the Red which went to the top of Mt Stromlo.
