Day 8 Tokyo

Bus pick up from the hotel was 8:20am with a change of bus and reserved seats for the Tokyo morning tour.

First stop was Tokyo Tower and were we lucky, it was a "clear day" in Tokyo terms anyway.  Click here for a view from the Tower

Next was the Imperial Palace but we were allowed past the gates with Imperial Family in residence.

We then drove through Akihabara and onto a temple near Akakusa which had a market place, Nakamise markets.  Checked out the temple and shops.  Tried to fix our ills with smoke from the burning incense. Phil tried some other weird food - milleted rice on a stick dipped in some sugar flour - weird but he ate it.  Click here for a view of the Palace, Akakusa and the view from our room.

We then drove through the Ginza area which turned out to be really close to our hotel - another bonus - before stopping at a Pearl store to watch a pearl being removed from the oyster.

A mini bus dropped us and some Norwegians back to the Ginza district around 1:00pm and feeling a bit hungry we had some Belgian waffles for a snack whilst walking past all the really nice shops.  We grabbed some Japanese rice triangles and other stuff at a Lawsons and walked back to the hotel for a short afternoon nap.

View from Tokyo Tower / Another view straight down / Beer glass and candle - can you see it?

Incense burning at the temple / Phil eating - again / So cute

Nicoles favourite dinner - Pizza at Ciao ! / Bec at Ciao / Ginza at Night

Dinner was a short walk to Ciao! - an Italian restaurant.  We also walked to the Ginza again to talk some photos of the amazing neon signs.
